Children’s readiness for school in this section refers to all children, especially the vulnerable and disadvantaged, including girls, children with disabilities, ethnic minorities and those living in ruralareas. In addition, readiness for school is different from readiness tolearn.1 While readiness for school implies being prepared to succeedin a structured learning setting, readiness to learn is a characteristic from birth. All children are born ready to learn(Kagan 1999). This learning occurs prior to entering school and extends beyond the walls of a classroom to daily life.
