Andreas MussnerSince the 16th century, the Val Gardena in the Dolomites is famous for its wood carving art. Here in the magnificent mountain scenery of the "Val Gherdëina", the majority of the population of Ladin, a language that has developed around 2,000 years ago at the time of Roman occupation. The wood carving is so tight with the Gardena Valley and its Ladin residents connected, that despite World Cup race, romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides and a huge winter silhouette Val Gardena has remained the Valley of the Herrgottsschnitzer always first and foremost.
