Noldes Werk umfasst heute zahlreiche Aquarellarbeiten, Ölgemälde, Grafiken sowie einige Skulpturen. Kennzeichnend ist seine intensive Farbgebung; der Künstler verblieb in seinen Motiven - Landschaften, Blumen, Stadtszenen, religiöse Motive - zwar stets im Gegenständlichen, "komponierte" seine Bilder jedoch ganz von der Farbe her. Als Nolde 1927 sein Backsteinhaus „Seebüll“ im nordfriesischen Neukirchen bezog, umgab er es mit einem großen Garten, der ihm Motive in Hülle und Fülle bot.

Nolde work today includes numerous works of watercolour, oil painting, graphics, as well as some sculptures. Characteristic is its intense colour; the artist remained in his motives - flowers, landscapes, city scenes, religious motives - always in the present, "wrote" his pictures but all of the color here. When Nolde 1927 moved into his stone house "Seebüll" in the North Frisian Neukirchen, he surrounded it with a large garden provided him with motifs in abundance.
