Fuentes and Carlsson-Kanyama (2006) consider that even if detailed information was made available, with regard to resource use and emissions during product life cycles, it would not influence the decisions of consumers to any significant extent, though possibly this may be mediated by the way that the information is presented. One such method of labelling is the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Reduction Labelling Scheme (Carbon Trust, 2010). This scheme labels products in terms of their carbon emissions, and has been taken up by companies such as Boots, Tesco, HBOS, Innocent and Walkers. There is no reason why good practice from these organisations could not lead to a scheme that could be rolled out within the catering and events sector
