How we use technology in our audit work
KPMG’s audit methodology is supported by a suite of technology tools, of which the key component
is eAudIT. eAudIT’s core applications include:
Electronic workpapers: When an engagement file is created, it is automatically filled with the
appropriate workpaper templates, which are themselves automatically populated with
information from eAudIT’s planning tool.
Peer-to-peer computing: This allows team members to share files on their personal computers
and work on them simultaneously.
CaseWare: Financial information can be imported from over 400 different accounting packages.
This technology also allows teams to make audit adjustments to individual trial balance items,
and automatically to update lead sheets and workpapers.
Computer-assisted audit techniques (CAATs): This tool supports the application of CAATs on large
volumes of client data, such as journals and transactions, and the investigation of anomalies.
Microsoft Office base: eAudit incorporates Microsoft Office software and applications e.g. Word,
Excel, simplifying the creation and sharing of audit documentation and formatting.
