Food is available in various stages of processing, in and out of season and at prices including delivery. Some of the products are sourced locally, but local is open to definition (Sunday Times, 2007). Thus, local beef might come from Dorset, Devon or Somerset, three adjoining counties. A separate attempt was made to cost local supplies using farm shops. These prices are quoted without delivery, and in some farm shops there is no guarantee that the produce is actually any more local than that available from a local green grocer or supermarket. Commercial suppliers understood what organic meant, but it was not easily available and then only as a special order. The majority of suppliers had not heard of biodynamic and certainly could not source it.
