ในทัศนะของอิสลาม คำว่า สันติภาพไม่ใช่เรื่องแปลกใหม่ในสายตาของมุสลิม มันเป็นสิ่งที่ถูกฝังแน่นและซึมลึกเข้าไปในจิตวิญญาณ เลือดเนื้อและชีวิตของมุสลิม “สันติภาพ” เป็นคำสอนและอุดมการณ์ที่ได้กลายเป็นความเชื่อมั่นศรัทธาประการหนึ่งของมุสลิม นับตั้งแต่รุ่งอรุณแห่งอิสลามเป็นต้นมา
อิสลามได้ดำเนินบทบาทในการแผ่ขยายคำว่า “สลาม” แปลว่า “สันติ” ให้ขจรขจายไปทั่วทุกมุมโลก ทั้งนี้ก็เนื่องจากว่า คำนี้ เป็นเป้าหมายสำคัญของชีวิตมนุษย์ นั่นก็คือ ความสงบสุขอย่างแท้จริงทั้งในโลกนี้และปรโลก
