For configuring the alternative pavement structure an ‘undefined’ layer has been added torepresent the high quality crushed aggregate unbound material. As it is common practice in theNetherlands to use a high modulus asphalt concrete throughout all the bituminous boundmaterial, a combination of a P-401 AC Surface and a stabilized P-401 Asphalt has been used. Thebound subbase layer is represented by the stabilized P-304 CTB material. The calculatedthickness based on APSDS has been compared with the required thickness based on LEDFAA,together with a ‘standard’ FAA flexible design. The results of this comparison are shown inFigure 5.
