Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan manfaat, baik secara teoretis maupun praktis. Secara teoretis, penelitian ini sangat penting sebagai penambah informasi tentang efektivitas model pembelajaran Portofolio dalam Mata Kuliah Belajar dan Pembelajaran Sosiologi, khususnya dalam menumbuhkembangkan kepedulian sosial mahasiswa. Secara praktis, hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan gambaran nyata bagi para dosen mata kuliah terkait, tentang pentingnya model pembelajaran Portofolio dalam menumbuhkembangkan kepedulian sosial mahasiswa. Disamping itu pula, hasil penelitian ini diharapkan berkontribusi terhadap meningkatnya kepedulian sosial mahasiswa dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat.
