ในปัจจุบันวัยรุ่นที่พูดภาษาถิ่นมีจำนวนลดลงน้อยลง อาจเป็นเพราะ สื่อหรือเทคโนโลยีใหม่ๆเข้ามา ทำให้ใช้ภาษากลางในการสื่อสาร และอาจเป็นเพราะ อายสำเนียง โดนคนอื่นมองว่า บ้านนอก หรือ กลัวผู้อื่นฟังไม่รู้เรื่อง
