Vừa xuống xe, chúng em đã ùa ra bờ hồ ngắm nhìn Tháp Rùa phía xa. Nước hồ Gươm được gìn giữ nên vẫn còn trong xanh lắm. Chúng em mong sao những dòng sông, những ao, hồ của thành phố đều được giữ gìn như vậy. Đẹp nhất là lúc nắng lên, mặt nước trong trẻo phản chiếu những tia nắng lấp lánh như kim cương và mặt hồ phẳng lặng in hình những cây lộc vừng, những cành liễu rủ thật điệu đà và duyên dáng. Chúng em nghe nói khi UNESCO quyết định trao tặng danh hiệu “Thành phố Vì hòa bình” cho Hà Nội vào năm 1999, họ đã đánh giá rất cao “Truyền thuyết Hồ Gươm” của cha ông ta. Họ cho rằng truyền thuyết đó khẳng định người Hà Nội nói riêng và người Việt Nam nói chung dù đánh giặc rất giỏi nhưng không ai muốn chiến tranh, luôn mong muốn “súng gươm vứt bỏ” để sống trong hòa bình.
