The early Buddhist temples of Japan were built by Korean monks and architects. The structures of these temples were the same as that of Silla temples such as Pulguk-sa Paekche temples, as well as the Chong-gamri and Sannori temples. The plan of Koguryo's Keumgang Temple, particulary its linear layout of the gate, pagoda, main building, and lecture hall, affected the design of Japan’s Asuka Temple. Koguryo tombs and Japan’s Asuka tombs also display great similarities.
