ปัจจุบันภาษาอังกฤษ ถือว่าเป็นภาษาสากลของโลกที่ใช้ในการติดต่อสื่อสาร ทำความเข้าใจระหว่างกัน และในชีวิตประจำวันของเราจำเป็นต้องมีภาษาอังกฤษเข้ามาเกี่ยวข้อง ภาษาอังกฤษมิใช่เป็นเพียงเครื่องมือในการติดต่อสื่อสารเท่านั้น ยังเป็นเครื่องมือในการศึกษาค้นคว้าหาข้อมูลที่ต้องการ เพื่อประกอบอาชีพและเป็นเครื่องมือการเจรจาต่อรองความร่วมมือทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ (ณัชชารีย์ ทรัพย์เย็น,2556) สิ่งเหล่านี้จะเชื่อมโยงเข้ากับชีวิตประจำวันของมนุษย์ เพื่อทำให้มนุษย์ในสมัยนี้มีความรู้ความสามารถในการวิเคราะห์ เพื่อให้สามารถเลือกใช้ข้อมูลข่าวสารในการตัดสินใจได้อย่างถูกต้อง สามารถนำมาใช้ในการแก้ไขปัญหาได้อย่างเท่าทันกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงของกระแสโลกในปัจจุบันและอนาคต ทั้งนี้เมื่อนำไปสู่การปรับตัวและการใช้ชีวิตอย่างมีความสุข แน่นอนที่สุดว่าสิ่งที่สำคัญและสิ่งจำเป็นที่ทุกคนควรได้รับและบ่มเพาะอย่างต่อเนื่อง คือการศึกษาเพื่อนำมาประยุกต์ใช้ในการแก้ไขปัญหาและสถานการณ์ใหม่ๆที่เกิดขึ้นประจำวันทั้งกับตนเองและผู้คนรอบข้าง ดังนั้น การเรียนรู้ต่อเนื่องตลอดชีวิตจะช่วยให้คนและสังคมสามารถกำหนดทิศทางการพัฒนาตนเองได้อย่างเหมาะสม (ธวัชชัย ศุภดิษฐ์, 2556)
