3.3.2 Sau 48 giờ nhập SSĐB: BN được theo dõi viêm phổi bằng lâm sàng và cận lâm sàng.
 Tiếp tục thực hiện các xét nghiệm theo quy định của BN nhập SSĐB như sinh hóa, huyết học, soi cấy và làm KS đồ các mẫu nước tiểu, máu, dịch vết mổ, dịch vết thương. Tiến hành nhuộm Gram, cấy đàm và chụp X Quang phổi lần thứ hai đối với các BN nghi VPBV có đủ tiêu chuẩn chẩn đoán theo CDC (1988).
 Ghi nhận các yếu tố điều trị can thiệp trên BN như đặt NKQ, số lần đặt NKQ, thở máy, số ngày thở máy, khai khí đạo, số lần hút đàm, đặt ống xông dạ dày, đặt catheter TM trung tâm, thuốc sử dụng (KS, corticoids, an thần, ức chế bơm proton, kháng H2 ….).
3.4. Xử lý và phân tích thống kê: Thu thập dữ liệu, kiểm tra và nhập vào chương trình Epi Data 3.1. Tất cả các biến số được xử lý phân tích thống kê bằng phần mềm STATA 10.0. Các biến số định tính sẽ được biểu diễn theo tần suất, tỉ lệ phần trăm và kiểm định theo phép kiểm 2. Các biến số định lượng sẽ được biểu diễn theo trung bình, độ lệch chuẩn và kiểm định theo phép kiểm Fisher. Giá trị p < 0,05 và các mối liên quan được tính bằng trị số nguy cơ tương đối RR (relative risk) không chứa 1 được xem là có ý nghĩa thống kê với khoảng tin cậy 95% (95% Confident Interval).
