Symptoms range from mild fevers, to a severe and potentially life threatening haemorrhagic (bleeding) disease.
Common symptoms of dengue fever include:
sudden fever
extreme tiredness
intense headache
muscle and joint pain
loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, a metallic taste
red rash on arms and legs, itching, peeling of skin and hair loss
minor bleeding from nose and gums
Symptoms may last up to a week and can range from mild to severe. Most people recover.
