Internalisasi juga merupakan salah satu metode dalam Pendidikan Karakter di lingkungan keluarga, sebagaimana yang dikemukakan oleh Syarbini (2013:59) berikut ini, “Metode internalisasi adalah upaya memasukkan pengetahuan (knowing) dan keterampilan melaksanakan pengetahuan (doing) dalam diri seseorang sehingga pengetahuan itu menjadi kepribadiannya (being) dalam kehidupan sehari-hari”.
Konsep internalisasi ini, sangat berkaitan erat dengan konsep sosialisasi.
Papalia, et.al (2008:290) berpendapat bahwa :“Sosialisasi adalah proses dimana anak mengembangkan kebiasaan, keterampilan, nilai, motif yang menjadikan mereka sebagai anggota masyarakat yang bertanggung jawab dan produktif. Sosialisasi tergantung kepada internalisasi standar sosial – menjadikan standar tersebut sebagai miliknya”.
