In both stories the King that someone wants to delete what he himself would like to have something going. King Arthur wants the precious chessboard and the King in the fairy tale the golden bird that eats at night of his golden apples.
animal helper (the talking Fox) from the novel by Sir Gawain, is reflected in the golden bird, but that gets there a much more comprehensive role. The Fox in the fairy tale is the helper throughout the story of the main character, while the Fox Roges in the novel of Sir Gawain, only pops up as Sir Gawain, goes in search of the clean Ysabele.
The return tour of Gotham/Penguin seems to be right run with that of the young Prince into the golden bird. The only difference is that the young Prince from the fairy tale manages to both the Princess of the Golden Castle as the Golden Horse and golden bird to take home. Sir Gawain, is well-behaved and Exchange almost everything nicely in (but what a luck that King Amoraen just died. Sir Gawain, the clean Ysabele so as not to swap to the sword with the two rings).
