Liberty Plaza is an interesting spa

Liberty Plaza is an interesting space. Beautiful and green, a recessed public space right in downtown Ann Arbor just west of the Michigan Theatre. It houses an interesting mix of people--I've been approached by pan handlers (as they tend to kind of hang out in groups here), seen handmade vendors and people of a more hippie variety, corporate business types enjoying a sunny afternoon lunch, students, skater kids, etc. I love that eclectic group that you find here and find it refreshing. An intersection of all Ann Arborites, really.

Every Thursday throughout the summer Liberty Plaza plays host to Sonic Lunch--a fantastic summer concert series featuring both national and local acts. I love coming here, checking out some free music, and grabbing a bite to eat either at Le Dog or one of the food sponsors they have set up for the afternoon. If it's sunny and not too hot and there's a good band playing it's my idea of a perfect day.
