We are pleased to announce the launching of High Five Employee Recognition Award Program for WD Thailand. This award program will effective implement from October 1st , 2013 onward.
Purpose
To recognize and thank employees exhibiting the company values, above and beyond the call of duty.
Scope
This guideline applies to WD Thailand employees both HDD and MHO Operations of Thailand Factory.
Contract and temporary employees are not eligible for this program.
Responsibilities
HR director is fully responsible for an implementation and interpretation of this policy.
Recipient’s Manager is responsible to approve and ensure the behavior being rewarded is not inconsistent with the employee’s typical behaviors or performance record.
High Five Committee is responsible to review and submit to PSC for an approval.
PSC is responsible for approve all awards before payout to recipients.
Award definition and criteria
High Five Award is spot award program for one-time achievement, rather than a sustained performance over period of time.
General criteria and/or behaviors awarded by this program are as below :
Individual employee or team whose specific accomplishment demonstrate for the highest current performance level or Best In Class in WD business such as, product / quality / technical / finance / cost etc.
The employees whose specific accomplishments demonstrate behaviors consistent with the WD values for example;
A day shift employee works the graveyard shift for a week to accommodate business needs (without a shift differential)
- An employee exerts significant effort to come up with a process or idea that benefits the organization, that is outside of the employee’s normal job responsibilities
- An employee develops and implements an idea that reduces cost, improves a product, or saves time/resources above and beyond normal course of duty
- An employee goes out of his/her way to ensure a customer receives their product. If he/she had not intervened, the customer would not have received their product as committed, thereby risking the customer relationship
Policy
All WD Thailand employees below the Director level are eligible to participate in the High Five Program.
High Five recognition award can be applied in individual and/or team.
All awards must be approved by the Recipient’s Manager/Director.
High Five Committee will review and submit to People Steering Committee (PSC) for an approval.
HR Director/Manager, the cost center Director/Manager (of the cost center being charged) and Finance Director/Manager must approve for High Five award Nomination & Payment Request Form.
Award will be deposited into recipient(s) bank account in the next payroll cycle with the applicable tax withheld per income tax guideline.
The participants must be employed by the Company at the time of payment.

Procedures
Respective managers apply High Five Recognition Award by completed Nomination Form with required HDO’s acknowledgement and VP/MD approval. (Award quota per HOD: 2 departmental award or 1 interdepartmental award)
Submission of the form to HE/ER will open from 1st week of new quarter until 1st week of final month of the quarter.
HR/ER compiles the nomination forms and sends the nomination list to High Five Committee for verification.
High Five Committee will finalized name list and submit to get approve from PSC.
HR/ER forwards final name list to Finance for payment.
HR/ER prepares certificate and distributes to employee’s HOD for distribution in next payroll cycle.
HR/ER to publish names of award recipients via bulletin board and WD TV Communication channel or SE Communication session.
