Nancy Peluso's Rich Forests, Poor P

Nancy Peluso's Rich Forests, Poor People, based on her Ph.D. dissertation
(Cornell, 1988), is an ambitious book. It combines a fairly detailed over
view of the history of forest management in Java, predominantly in the
nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with a discussion of the present state of
affairs, and two case studies of particular forest areas, one in a teak zone
(kabupaten Jepara, Pati, and Blora) and one in a non-teak environment
(Brebes).
