New York City's humid continental climate brings hot stifling summers and cold bitter winters. The topic of the city's weather comes up frequently in daily conversation. That being said, most of the activities occur during the summer months, when the streets come alive with festivals, concerts and neighbourhood events.Although the city's coastal location helps buffer it somewhat from the truly bitter temperatures which affect inland towns, it is still very cold from December to February. Snow is fairly common but the amount depends on regional weather patterns and can often fall as sleet. Temperatures reach a nearly perfect level of cool during late September and October and clear blue skies dominate every day. The changing colours of Central Park add to the feeling of excitement as another year comes to an end
