Mit seinem engagierten Schaffen in internationalen Kunstmetropolen unterstützt der Künstler aktiv Naturschutzprojekte des WWF, von Greenpeace und anderen Einrichtungen. Von der National Geographic Society wurde der Maler zum Ehrenmitglied ernannt.

Röhrigs Bilder gelten inzwischen als Wegbereiter einer neuen Kunstauffassung im fotorealistischen Stil und sind bei Sammlern und Museen begehrt.
