قال مدير عام الصحة العامة في وزارة الصحة د. ياسر بوزية ان كل طبيب يسعى لإنقاذ أكبر قدر من الحالات بما يملك من إمكانيات بشرية وتقنية، مضيفاً أن التفريق بين الخطأ الطبي والإهمال أمر وارد، فالخطأ ناتج عن حدوث أمر لا يمكن ضبطه، بشكل غير مقصود ولا ممنهج، بينما الإهمال يندرج تحت التقصير وعدم اتباع الاجراءات الطبية بشكل غير مسؤول. وأردف بوزية أنه لا يمكن البتّ في قضية الإهمال والخطأ دون إجراء تحقيق واف يتضمن تشريح للحالة، وفحوصات من قبل أخصائيين لدراسة المضاعفات، مشيراً إلى وجوب معاقبة الطبيب في حال إثبات إهماله. وعن عدد الأخطاء الطبية التي احصتها الوزارة صرح بوزية أنه "لا يملك اي أرقام حول ذلك".
