งานวิจัยฉบับนี้เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภ

งานวิจัยฉบับนี้เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) โดยส่วนแรกจะเป็นการศึกษาข้อมูลทางประวัติศาสตร์ในพื้นที่ ซึ่งในส่วนนี้จะแบ่งออกเป็น 2 แนวทางคือ แนวทางแรกเป็นการศึกษาจากประวัติศาสตร์ที่เป็นวาทกรรมจากหนังสือ (History) โดยศึกษาจากเอกสารต่างๆ ที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับพื้นที่วิจัย ส่วนแนวทางที่สองคือ การศึกษาประวัติศาสตร์จากการบอกเล่า (Oral History) โดยใช้การสัมภาษณ์ผู้ที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับพื้นที่ และผู้ที่มีความทรงจำเกี่ยวกับกองทัพทหารญี่ปุ่นที่เข้ามาตั้งค่ายทหารอยู่ ณ บริเวณเขาทุเรียน – เขาชะโงกเป็นหลัก การคัดเลือกผู้เข้าร่วมการวิจัยสามารถแบ่งออกเป็น 3 กลุ่ม เกณฑ์การคัดเลือกผู้เข้าร่วมการวิจัยในแต่ละกลุ่มมี ดังนี้
