Pengurus Besar Kada Ibrahim Mat berkata ini kerana jadual tanaman padi dikeluarkan dirangka dengan mengambil kira pelbagai faktor termasuk keperluan untuk kerja penyelenggaraan pam air.

Kada akan menghentikan pengairan ke sawah padi mengikut kawasan seperti yang ditetapkan dan pesawah yang bertanam pada lewat musim mungkin menghadapi masalah sawah kekeringan air, katanya dalam kenyataan, di sini hari ini.

Beliau mengulas rungutan lebih 80 petani di bendang Cherang Rotan, Pasir Puteh yang mendakwa tanaman padi mereka hampir musnah apabila terputus bekalan air akibat musim kemarau.

Pengerusi Lembaga Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan Cherang Rotan (LPPKCR), Tengku Hussin Tengku Abdul Rahman berkata 80 hingga 100 hektar tanaman padi di beberapa kampung seperti Jelor, Bukit Abal, Kampung Nara dan Merkang sedang mengalami kekeringan air yang menyebabkan anak padi berusia antara satu dan dua bulan kemerah-merahan serta hampir layu.

Mengulas lanjut, Ibrahim berkata bekalan air untuk musim ini bagi kawasan pengairan Kemubu di jajahan Kota Baharu, Bachok dan Pasir Puteh telah ditamatkan pada 3 Feb lepas.

“Manakala bagi kawasan pengairan Lemal dan Pasir Mas bagi jajahan Pasir Mas dan Tumpat telah tamat pada 6 Mac lalu,” katanya.

Ibrahim berkata pihaknya menyedari masih terdapat sebahagian kecil kawasan sawah padi yang masih memerlukan air disebabkan mereka menanam lewat dan tidak mengikut jadual yang telah ditetapkan.

“Malah ada antara petani menabur benih pada awal Februari iaitu hampir dengan tarikh tamat tempoh bekalan air,” katanya.

Katanya, dalam tempoh pemberhentian bekalan air itu, Kada akan melakukan penyelenggaraan pam serta infrastruktur lain sebagai persediaan untuk musim akan datang.

Rancangan Pengairan Kemubu akan disalur bermula 1 Jun ini dan bekalan air untuk Rancangan Pengairan Lemal dan Pasir Mas pula bermula 15 Mei ini, katanya menambah jadual musim baharu akan dikeluarkan dalam masa terdekat. – BERNAMA
