Statistical analysis
A sample size of 126 women could detect a difference in
gestational diabetes of 33% compared to 11% with a power
of 80% and a error of 5%. This meant that 63 women were
required in each group. Data were analysed using the Stata
V10.0 statistical software program. A standard approach of
analysis for randomised controlled trials was applied.
Patients’ characteristics and baseline assessments were
compared between treatment and control groups to examine
