Исчисление мировых военных расходов неизбежно носит неточный характер ввиду нехватки данных. Кроме того, существуют трудности, связанные с различиями в обменных курсах национальных валют , в системе военного производства и калькуляции себестоимости военной продукции, а также в структуре цен в гражданском и военном секторах экономики. Для решения этих проблем генеральная ассамблея ООН ввела в 1980 году стандартизированную систему отчётности и впоследствии каждый год рекомендовала государствам-членам ежегодно представлять генеральному секретарю доклады об уровне своих военных расходов , подготовленные на основе этой системы. В 1988 гор году генеральный секретарь получил данные из 28 стран, в которых использовалась система отчётности. Overall, industrialized countries account for almost 80 per cent of the total volume of military spending worldwide. Calculus world military spending is necessarily inaccurate due to lack of data. In addition, there are difficulties associated with differences in exchange rates of national currencies, in the military system of costing and production of military products, as well as in the price structure in the civil and military sectors of the economy. To address these problems, the UN General Assembly has adopted a standardized system of reporting year 1980 and subsequently every year, encouraged Member States to submit to the Secretary-General reports annually on its military expenditures, based on that system. In 1988 the mountains year the Secretary-General received data from 28 countries, which used a system of reporting.
