BEC Tero are known as the Fire Dragons.
They were founded in 1992. They are probably most well known for reaching the AFC champions league final in 2003. The other big story was the strange 12 week coaching spell of former England coach Sven Goran Eriksson that appeared more a publicity stunt that appointment. They have often moved home during their history and currently have the 72 Years Anniversary Stadium in Minburi as their base. It has a 12, 500 capacity but has yet to be filled due to the poor access and location of the stadium as well as the historically small fan base of the club.
Date and kick off time
7 PM Sunday March 9th
Player to watch:
As ever, there has been a very high turnover of players engineered by football director Robert Procurer. Losing marksman Cleiton Silva to the Mexican league and "Thai Messi" Chanatip to injury were setbacks, but the club Welcome former Arsenal and Monaco striker Georgie... Welcome and former Portuguese international Ariza Makukula to their strike force.
Coach
They also have a Brazilian coach, jose Alves Borges, but the Tero hot seat is hotter than most, having seen an astonishing six coaches come and go in the past two years, including former Suphanburi Head Coach Rene Desaeyere
This season so far
Tero will have been disappointed with their opening game draw away to Samut Songkhran-a team many people feel will struggle to stay up this year with five teams being relegated.
Last season
Tero finished in 7th place, 3 points behind Suphanburi. Having 3 coaches during the season is unlikely to have helped their consistency or a difficult September where they lost all four games.
Over the season, Tero scored 16 more goals than Suphanburi, but conceded 18 more.
Head to head last season
Last seasons game at BEC Tero ended in a 1: 1 draw. Tero went ahead on 80 minutes thanks to an own goal by Sa Ardchom, but Suphanburi struck back only 3 minutes later with a strike from Wonghoi. The other match between the teams also ended in a 1: 1 draw. This time Brazilian Cleiton Silva put the Fire Dragons ahead after 39 minutes before Castillo equalised for the War Elephant on 56 minutes
Club Honours
BEC Tero have been TPL champions twice-in 2000 and 2002. Considering the large investment made by Chairman Brian Marcar since 1996, this is a surprisingly poor return from 18 seasons.
Stadium Information
The access to and from the stadium is very poor. It would be best to go on a club coach, or allow yourself plenty of time to get there and away.
The away section is not covered. There are some stalls behind the stand to get food and drink, but no shops at all.
