Later, whole Predicates can be left blank for the pupils to fill in; but with this type of completion it is best to include an adjectival or adverbial phrase in a sentence in order to give a clue that makes clear what Predicate would be appropriate. For instance, “after buying patrol, the driver…..” will more likely be completed correctly and sensibly than “the driver….” So the sentence to be complete will be familiar to “the policeman, directing the traffic….”-“during the robbery, a weaver in the next compound…” It will be noted that a given clue will reduce the number of likely mistakes: the pupils also have some practice in thinking and in drawing very simple conclusions.
