Viêm phổi bệnh viện (VPBV) là một trong những loại nhiễm khuẩn thường gặp nhất [12] và cũng là một vấn đề rất được quan tâm của ngành y tế trong nước cũng như trên thế giới. Tại Hoa Kỳ, VPBV chiếm hàng thứ hai chiếm từ 13% đến 18% trong tất cả nhiễm khuẩn bệnh viện (NKBV), đứng hàng đầu tại khoa Săn Sóc Đặc Biệt (SSĐB) và cũng là nguyên nhân gây tử vong hàng đầu trong các NKBV ở Hoa Kỳ [8],[27]. Viêm phổi (VP) xuất hiện làm nặng thêm tình trạng bệnh nhân (BN) sau phẫu thuật bụng, kéo dài thời gian thông khí nhân tạo, kéo dài thời gian nằm viện tại khoa SSĐB, dẫn đến chi phí điều trị tăng và tiên lượng BN xấu hơn. Trong phần lớn các loại phẫu thuật (PT), nhất là PT ngực-bụng, đều có nguy cơ gây suy hô hấp ở giai đoạn hậu phẫu với nhiều mức độ nặng khác nhau và biến chứng suy hô hấp là nguyên nhân gây tử vong đứng hàng thứ hai sau biến chứng tim mạch, cũng như có nguy cơ cao gây VPBV tại khoa SSĐB [14],[19],[20]. Theo y văn thế giới, cho rằng điều trị PT và điều trị tại khoa SSĐB có nguy cơ mắc VPBV lần lượt gấp 2,4 lần so với điều trị bệnh nội khoa [4] cũng như tỉ lệ VPTM cao hơn ở nhóm BN hồi sức ngoại khoa so với nhóm hồi sức nội khoa [28]. Tại Việt nam, các NC khảo sát tình trạng VPBV tại các khoa SSĐB ngoại khoa hầu như rất ít, và cũng chưa có kết luận rõ ràng về vấn đề này. Chính vì vậy, chúng tôi tiến hành NC “Đánh giá mối liên quan của các yếu tố nguy cơ đến VPBV sau phẫu thuật tại khoa SSĐB, Bệnh viện Bình Dân” nhằm có hướng điều trị kịp thời giúp giảm thời gian nằm viện, giảm chi phí điều trị và giảm tỉ lệ tử vong.

Pneumonia Hospital (VPBV) is one of the most common bacterial types [12] and also is a matter of great concern of the health sector in the country as well as around the world. In the United States, VPBV takes up the second row takes up from 13% to 18% of all hospital infections (NKBV), leading in Care Sciences (SSĐB) and is also the leading cause of death in the United States in the NKBV [8], [27].
