Introduction
Learning to speak a foreign language requires more than knowing it's grammar . Learners must be aware of native speakers use the language so they can speak the language fluently . In order to do this, it is necessary that they study factors that affect speaking acquisition. Teachers also must develop their learners’ ability to communicate and the ability to use the language in social interaction.
Many learners consider speaking as the ability to speak fluently or the ability to make conversation with others. In fact, learners need to know that speaking related to other language skills . They need to improve these skills to to acquire the speaking skill. They have to study pronunciation,grammar and vocabulary to put the write words in the correct order. Learners need to know about other cultures to avoid misunderstandingothers.
In order to help learners to acquire speaking skills , we have to assign them with certain topics to discuss it and express their thoughts and ideas in English . They also have to study the language functions like the word forms,meanings,idioms and how these can be developed. As Speaking is the use of the language in social interaction, we have to consider that this interaction needs to know how and when to use speaking features such as stress,intonation,pausing and linked sounds work .
This study will discuss the main factors that may improve speaking acquisition for ESL learners and what are other aspects related to improve speaking skills. The study will be applied to a number of students in English department at Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University .I will distribute a questionnaire , which has a different number of question , to identify the factors that affect their speaking acquisition .
