MADRID, Jan 10, 2016 (AFP) - Real Betis sacked former West Bromwich
Albion manager Pepe Mel for the second time on Sunday following a run of eight
games without a win.
"The Betis board have decided tonight to sack Pepe Mel as coach of the
first team," Betis said in a statement on their website.
"Real Betis thank Mr. Mel for his services rendered to the club and wish
him the best in his future professional career."
Mel lead Betis to promotion and a seventh-placed finish in his first spell
at the club before being sacked in December 2013.
He then saved West Brom from relegation in six months with the Baggies in
2014 before returning to Betis in December of that year.
Mel again oversaw promotion to the Spanish top-flight last season.
But after a bright start to the campaign, three consecutive league defeats
have left Betis just five points off the relegation zone.
