De queeste van Walewein en het scha

De queeste van Walewein en het schaakbord bevat veel sprookjeselementen. Er zijn opvallende gelijkenissen met het sprookje De Gouden Vogel, bijvoorbeeld de driedelige queeste waaruit het verhaal is opgebouwd:
Walewein gaat op zoek naar het schaakbord;
Vervolgens naar het zwaard met de twee ringen;
Uiteindelijk naar de schone Ysabele in het verre Endi (Indië)
