The quest of Sir Gawain, and the chessboard contains many fairy tale elements. There are striking similarities with the fairy tale the golden bird, for example the three-part quest from which the story is constructed:
Gawain goes looking for the chess board; Then to the sword with the two rings
;
finally to the clean Ysabele in the far Endi (India)
The fairy tale the golden bird was only written down by the Brothers Grimm in 1812 German fairy. The substance of this fairy tale story was already known in the oral tradition and was occasionally used as a source of inspiration for other literature. The golden bird is just like the novel of Sir Gawain, made up of a three-part quest:
The main character sets out to find the golden bird; Then to the Golden Horse;
finally to the Princess in the Golden Castle.
