This result indicated that choice of parents is an important factor. These results indicated that there were the large variations among these four parents and their F1 ,F1r hybrids for all studied traits. These hybrids can be utilized in breeding program to produce improved better okra lines and new cultivars. magnitudes of GCA and SCA mean squares were close for pod diameter trait showing that both of them were more important in the inheritance of this trait. This result indicated that choice of parents is very important. These hybrids can be developed for breeding program and also can satisfy the local demand. Okra breeding program should aim to produce new F1hybrids.The heterosis revealed the type of gene action involved and it helps in the selection of suitable breeding methodology and parameters, which are employed for crop improvement program . Thus, in the present investigation both additive and non-additive genetic components were important in the inheritance of fruit yield and its components with preponderance of non-additive gene action. It is ,therefore suggested that improvement of fruit yield and its attributes in okra can be obtained using breeding methods like diallel selective mating or parental mating followed by selection in advanced generation .
