น.ส.ศิริกัญญา ตันสกุล นักวิจัยอาวุโส มูลนิธิสถาบันอนาคตไทยศึกษา ระบุปัจจุบันผลตอบแทนของแรงงานที่จบการศึกษาในระดับปริญญาตรีของไทยได้ปรับลดลงอย่างต่อเนื่อง เมื่อเทียบกับช่วง 10 ปีที่ผ่านมาโดยผู้ที่เรียนจบปริญญาตรีจะได้รับเงินค่าตอบแทนต่างจากผู้ที่เรียนจบมัธยมศึกษาตอนต้นถึง 3 เท่า แต่ปัจจุบันนี้ช่องว่างดังกล่าวได้ลดลงเหลือเพียง 2.4 เท่า
