Pembelajaran membaca sastra cerita wayang Ramayana di SMP Kabupaten Rembang berubah menjadi pembelajaran menyimak. Siswa kurang memahami materi bacaan yang disediakan di buku teks dan LKS. Siswa membutuhkan buku pengayaan cerita wayang Ramayana berbahasa Jawa dialek Rembang dan disisipi ilustrasi cerita yang menarik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R & D) yang dilakukan melalui lima tahapan yaitu (1) analisis potensi dan masalah, (2) pengumpulan data kebutuhan siswa dan guru, (3) desain produk, (4) uji ahli/validasi desain produk, dan (5) revisi desain produk. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu, (1) buku pengayaan cerita wayang Ramayana benar-benar dibutuhkan siswa dan guru di SMP Kabupaten Rembang sebagai penunjang materi membaca sastra, (2) buku pengayaan cerita wayang Ramayana menggunakan bahasa Jawa dialek Rembang ragam ngoko alus sesuai kebutuhan siswa dan guru, serta (3) hasil uji validasi buku pengayaan cerita wayang Ramayana memperoleh nilai sebesar 88,63% kategori sangat layak dari ahli materi sedangkan dari ahli pengembangan buku memperoleh nilai 80% dengan kategori layak. Berdasarkan saran ahli, buku pengayaan cerita wayang Ramayana berjudul “Bledheg Alas Dhandhaka” dan terdiri dari lima lakon/judul cerita yaitu “Miyose Putra Ratu”, “Numpes Raseksa”, “Rama Tundhung”, “Sinta Kadhusta”, dan “Anoman Duta”. Saran yang dianjurkan yaitu (1) bagi guru SMP di Kabupaten Rembang, diharapkan dapat memanfaatkan buku pengayaan cerita wayang Ramayana sebagai alternatif materi pembelajaran, kreatif memilih dan membuat bahan bacaan yang dapat meningkatkan minat membaca siswa, (2) bagi peneliti lain diharapkan dapat melakukan penelitian lanjutan untuk menguji kelayakan dan keefektifan buku pengayaan cerita wayang Ramayana yang dihasilkan penelitian ini, (3) setelah diuji kelayakan dan keefektifan, diharapkan pemerintah dapat bekerjasama memfasilitasi buku pengayaan cerita wayang Ramayana untuk diproduksi massal sebagai bahan bacaan siswa, dan (4) buku pengayaan cerita wayang Ramayana dapat digunakan sebagai penunjang pembelajaran bahasa Jawa SMP di luar Kabupaten Rembang.
