งานวิจัยเรื่อง แนวทางการปรับปรุงจุดชมวิวหนองหารท่าแร่ จังหวัดสกลนคร โดยศึกษาวิจัยลักษณะทางกายภาพ เพื่อตอบสนองต่อประชาชนในพื้นที่และนักท่องเที่ยว แบ่งการดำเนินงานตั้งแต่ ตรวจสอบสภาพของปัญหาจนถึงขั้นตอนการวิเคราะห์และสรุปผลการวิจัย โดยกำหนดจุดประสงค์คือ
1) เพื่อศึกสภาพปัญหาปัจจุบันของพื้นที่ริมหนองหารฝั่งท่าแร่และจุดชมวิว
2) เพื่อออกแบบปรับปรุงภูมิทัศน์จุดชมวิวท่าแร่
3) เพื่อเป็นสถานที่พักผ่อนและสานที่ท่องเที่ยวของประชาชนทั่วๆไป
โดยการศึกษาข้อมูลจากสภาพแวดล้อมและกลุ่มประชากรในพื้นที่ และนักท่องเที่ยว จากการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลพบว่า จุดชมวิวหนองหารท่าแร่ จังหวัดสกลนคร ที่ตั้งอยู่ตำบลท่าแร่ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดสกลนครซึ่งมีพื้นที่ที่ติดหนองหารที่เป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวเชิงนิเวศ พบว่าขาดการดูแลจึงทำให้สถานที่และสิ่งก่อสร้างชุดโทรม ดังนั้นจึงศึกษาแนวทางแก้ไขปรับปรุง เพื่อตอบสนองต่อประชาชนในพื้นที่และนักท่องเที่ยว
