Ando Hiroshige (also: Utagawa Hiroshige, 1797-1858) considered to most important color wood carver his time along with Hokusai. The most successful was he always: after him the publication of his '53 stations of the Tokaido"(1833-1834) practically over night had made famous his well composed, detail-obsessed landscape paintings were so popular until at the end of his life, that often five conditions have been achieved. Yet in his lifetime as "Meishoeshi" (master in the presentation of famous places) venerated, and last but not least are's the "100 views of famous places in Edo" (Tokyo), he created in his later years his works, which paved the way of the Japanese art of wood carving to Europe, above all. Van Gogh was enthusiastic about it and made even copies.
