Sistem kekerabatannya bersifat pare

Sistem kekerabatannya bersifat parental. Artinya orang Sunda memperhitungkan dan mengakui kekerabatan baik melalui garis keturunan bapak maupun ibu. Bapak dan ibu mempunyai hak yang sama terhadap putra-putri mereka. Sistem kekerabatan demikian berdasarkan prinsip bilateral (dimana anak dihubungkan dengan kelompok sanak ibu bapak).
