พิพิธภัณฑ์หุ่นขี้ผึ้งไทย เกิดจากแรงบันดาลใจของผู้สร้างสรรค์กลุ่มหนึ่งนำโดย อาจารย์ดวงแก้วพิทยากร ศิลป์ ที่สนใจการสร้างหุ่นขี้ผึ้ง และศึกษาค้นคว้าทดลองเป็นเวลานานกว่า 10 ปี จึงประสบความสำเร็จ สามารถสร้างหุ่น ขี้ผึ้งยุคใหม่จากไฟเบอร์กลาสที่มีความคงทน ประณีต งดงาม เหมือนคนจริงที่สุด จนคณะผู้ร่วมงานเห็นสมควรที่ จะสนับสนุนให้ก้าวหน้าต่อไป เพื่อสร้างชื่อเสียงให้แก่ประเทศชาติและศิลปินไทย จึงเริ่มโครงการก่อตั้งพิพิธ ภัณฑ์หุ่นขี้ผึ้งไทย ไทยในปี พ.ศ. 2525 สำหรับเป็นสถานที่สร้างและจัดแสดงหุ่นขี้ผึ้งไฟเบอร์กลาส เพื่อการ อนุรักษ์ ส่งเสริม เผยแพร่ ศิลปะ วัฒนธรรม ประเพณีไทย อันจะเป็นประโยชน์ในการศึกษาค้นคว้าของเยาวชน โดยปัจจุบันมีหุ่นไฟเบอร์กลาสทั้งหมด 120 รูปอาคารพิพิธภัณฑ์หุ่นขี้ผึ้งไทยนี้เป็นอาคารสองชั้น โดยมีการจัด แสดง ด้วยกันสองชั้นคือ ชั้นล่าง จัดแสดงหุ่นชุดต่างๆ เช่น ชุดพระบรมรูปอดีตพระมหากษัตริย์ราชวงค์จักรี, พระบรมรูปสมเด็จพระศรีนครินทราบรมราชชนนี, ชุดพระอริยสงฆ์, ชุดมุมหนึ่งของชีวิต เป็นต้น

พิพิธภัณฑ์หุ่นขี้ผึ้งไทย เป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์ ที่จัดแสดง หุ่นขี้ผึ้ง ที่หล่อจาก ไฟเบอร์กลาส แห่งแรกของประเทศไทย เกิดจากแรงดลใจของ ผู้สร้างสรรค์กลุ่มหนึ่ง ซึ่งนำโดย อ.ดวงแก้ว พิทยากรศิลป์ ทำการศึกษาขี้ผึ้งยุคใหม่จากไฟเบอร์กลาส ซึ่งค้นคว้าทดลองเป็นเวลานานกว่า 10 ปี จึงประสบความสำเร็จ สามารถสร้างหุ่นมีลักษณะเหมือนคนจริง ๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นผิว ดวงตา แขน เส้นผม ที่มีความคงทน ประณีต งดงาม เหมือนคนจริงที่สุด และมีวัตถุประสงค์ ในอันที่จะส่งเสริม เผยแพร่ อนุรักษ์ไว้ซึ่ง ศิลปวัฒนธรรม ประเพณีของไทย อันจะเป็นประโยชน์ ในการศึกษาค้นคว้าของเยาวชนสืบไป

โดยปัจจุบันมีหุ่นไฟเบอร์กลาสทั้งหมด 120 รูปอาคารพิพิธภัณฑ์หุ่นขี้ผึ้งไทยนี้เป็นอาคาร 2 ชั้น โดยมีการจัด แสดง ด้วยกันดังนี้คือ

ชั้นที่ 1 จัดแสดงหุ่นชุดต่างๆ เช่น ชุดพระอริยสงฆ์ ,ชุดพระบรมรูปอดีตพระมหากษัตริย์ราชวงค์จักรี, พระบรมรูปสมเด็จพระศรีนครินทราบรมราชชนนี, ชุดมุมหนึ่งของชีวิต ครอบครัวไทย เป็นต้น
