Das skandinavische Genre erfuhr Ende des letzten Jahrhunderts eine Renaissance, wodurch auch Mönsted wieder neu entdeckt wurde. Unter anderem wurde er 1995 in der Ausstellung "Licht des Nordens" in Frankfurt am Main und Stockholm gezeigt. Gesammelt werden seine Werke weltweit, mit Vorliebe im angelsächsischen Raum mit seiner großen Tradition der atmosphärischen Landschaftsdarstellungen.
