Through the extraction, microencapsulation and the comparative analysis of the optimal conditions for pigment extraction and microencapsulation, it is now possible to recommend, a method for large scale production of RRP involving microwave extraction time of 35 s, and a material-liquor ratio 1:5, and ethanol density of 40%. The pigments are best purified using AB-8 macrospore resin and eluted with 70% ethanol. The microencapsulation of core 15% RRP and wall material ratio (bee’s-wax: stearic acid) 1:1, with 4 min stirring time. The effects on stability of RRP against the variations in pH, light, and heat are significantly enhanced by microencapsulation. This study is the first report of efficient microencapsulation of the RRP from the YHR. Our findings facilitate the potential use of the RRP for a variety of commercial applications.
