WHAT CAUSES:
Though the exact causes of hypertension are usually un known .there are several factors that have been highly associated with the condition. these include:
Smoking, obesity, sedentary life style, lack of physical activity,high level of salt intake (sodium sensitivity) ,insufficient calcium, potassium and magnesium consumption.
Vitamin D deficiency ,high levels of alcohol consumption.
CLINICAL MANIFESTATION:
Narrowed arterioles, papilledema, coronary artery disease with angina left ventricular hypertrophy ,left heart failure, nocturnal and azotemia
DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION:
History and physical examination are necessary, left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH)assessed by electrocardiogram and Uri analysis.

MANAGEMENT:
The important management is dietary control of salt and cholesterol, weight reduction ,regular exercise program, abstinence of tobacco and alcohol. Stress management are addressed and drug therapy are usually necessary.

IMPORTANT FOLLOW UP OF HYPERTENSION:
The most important element in the management of high blood pressure is follow up care.
Check with your health care provider periodically to make sure that your blood pressure is in the recommended range.
