Der amerikanische Künstler Robert Rauschenberg (1925, Texas – 2008, Florida) studierte bei Josef Albers am legendären Black Mountain College. Dort traf er u.a. mit Merce Cunningham, John Cage und Cy Twombly zusammen. Kennzeichnend für seine Arbeit ist ein anhaltendes Interesse am Experimentieren. Mit Cage zusammen realisierte er „Automobile Tire Prints“, bei denen die Muster von Autoreifen abgedruckt wurden. Für Merce Cunningham gestaltete er Bühnendekorationen und Kostüme.
Thomas Reichstein, geboren 1960, schloss sein Studium der Bildhauerei an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden als Meisterschüler ab.
