We undertake a systematic comparison between analytical
predictions of the Fokker-Planck coefficient of pitchangle
scattering and numerical simulations that are based on
a Monte-Carlo code developed by one of us (Tautz 2010). In
Sect. 2, the Monte-Carlo code Padian is introduced, which is
used for all numerical simulations. In Sects. 3 and 4, basic properties
of pitch-angle scattering and of the Fokker-Planck coefficient
are presented, respectively. In Sect. 5, results from the numerical
simulations are compared to estimations obtained from
analytical scattering theories. Sect. 6 provides a summary and a
discussion of the results.
