Tính chung 4 tháng đầu năm kim ngạch xuất khẩu mặt hàng này đạt trên 532 triệu USD, tuy có giảm 19,3% so với cùng kỳ năm trước, nhưng lại tăng 23,3% so với kế hoạch năm đề ra. Theo dự báo của các chuyên gia, kim ngạch xuất khẩu TCMN của Việt Nam phải đạt được 2,0 tỷ USD vào năm 2014. Để đạt được con số này trong hoàn cảnh khó khăn như hiện nay đòi hỏi phải có sự nỗ lực của toàn ngành, sự kết hợp hài hòa giữa các cơ quan chức năng với ngành và các doanh nghiệp sản xuất, xuất khẩu TCMN.
