The importance of the BRICS Bank cannot be understated in terms of its contribution to revolutionising global markets; Dingding Chen argues that this bank illuminates the potential and legitimacy of BRICS nations and improves the lives of the citizens of these countries. In addition, it present an unambiguous challenge to the established economic hegemony, although some have argued that the rise of BRICS nations has more recently decelerated and there has been a disharmony between the different states as to the function of the BRICS bank itself (Chen, 2014). The New Development bank, then, cannot pose a legitimate threat to the United States in terms of toppling the established economic power structures, and it is this argument which will be outlined in this dissertation, divided into three chapters.
