Overview:
The BMW 2002 was first introduced in 1968, becoming the first ever sports sedan. For the first time, a practical car could be fun. The large trunk and 4 seat layout made the car practical, but the 2 liter engine and fantastic suspension made the car performance oriented at the same time. After the second World War, companies such as BMW were struggling to stay in business. When the 2002 was introduced, little did BMW know that they would sell over 800,000 units. In 1976, when 2002 produced was stopped, a car known as the 3-series would take its place, based off of the same sports sedan platform. Over 40 years later, these cars are still on the road and have achieved somewhat of a cult status.
