2.0 Maintenance Procedures
For parts identification during maintenance, refer to Figure 5 - Hopper Exploded View
and the accompanying assembly drawings.
NOTE: The following maintenance procedures should be carried out by suitably
trained and authorised persons only.
2.1 Discharge Hopper Removal
1. Ensure all air and electrical supplies to the discharge station are switched off and
isolated.
2. At the discharge hopper, disconnect all air supply hoses.
3. Disconnect the sensor cable.
4. Disconnect any take-off equipment from the hopper outlet.
5. At the hopper support flange, remove the retaining setscrews and spring washers.
6. The hopper assembly can now be lifted clear of the frame using a suitable lifting
apparatus attached to the lift eyes on the hopper support flange.
CAUTION
The weight of the discharge hopper assembly is approximately 60kg. Care must
be taken when removing the hopper to avoid personal injury and damage to the
equipment.
All lifting operations must be carried out in accordance with current Health &
Safety Regulations.
7. The hopper assembly should be cleaned before any further strip-down is carried
out. For cleaning purposes, the lip seal (3.3) can be removed to aid access to the
inside of the hopper body. Cleaning can be achieved by vacuum or wash and dry.
CAUTION
For wash cleaning, water temperature must not exceed 80OC. Inlet and exhaust
ports should be blanked to avoid water ingress and possible damage to internal
components.
NOTE: Matcon recommend the use of a proprietary stainless steel cleaner for the
metal surfaces of the hopper assembly. Avoid abrasive or solvent based agents which
might affect the surface finish or damage the hygiene cover/seals. Always follow the
manufacturer’s safety instructions.
2.2 Discharge Hopper Strip-down
Before attempting a major strip-down, the hopper should be removed from the support
frame and if necessary cleaned (refer to Section 2.1).
For parts identification, refer to Figure 5 - Hopper Exploded View and the
accompanying assembly drawings.
CAUTION
The weight of the discharge hopper assembly is approximately 60kg. To avoid
personal injury and damage to the equipment, the hopper should be suitably
supported in an upright position before strip-down is commenced.
