3.3. Real sample analysis
The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination
of copper in sugar; three sweeteners in tablets, whose principal component are sucralose, aspartame and stevia extract, instant coffee, tea and
mate infusions. All samples were analyzed in triplicate. In order to eliminate matrix effects, the standard addition method was used. In all these
determinations it was not necessary the addition of EDTA because the
signal of the Cu–LA complex was not affected.
Sugar and sweetener samples were completely dissolved while tea,
instant coffee and mate samples have residues. Copper was quantified
in infusions of these last samples to determine the real intake of people
who drinks these beverages
